Overview
The Future of Energy provides a data and fact-based review of the key current and future U.S. energy issues, potential solutions, impacts on both consumer costs and emissions, balanced energy cost and benefit analysis, and where our energy focus should be for the future The webinar examines the technical, economic, environmental, and policy challenges shaping the global energy landscape over the coming decades. The webinar evaluates electricity generation technologies, grid reliability, energy storage, transportation electrification, clean energy minerals, nuclear power, renewable energy, natural gas, and emerging technologies such as AI-driven data centers and space-based solar power. Participants learn to assess energy systems using objective engineering criteria, including energy return on investment (EROI), power density, dispatchability, lifecycle assessment, reliability, and consumer cost. The webinar also explores how rapidly growing electricity demand from AI data centers, electric vehicles, and industrial electrification is changing power generation, transmission, and distribution requirements. Significant attention is given to long-duration energy storage, transmission modernization, critical mineral supply chains, and maintaining affordable, reliable electricity while reducing emissions. Through engineering analyses and real-world case studies, participants develop a balanced understanding of future energy strategies, enabling them to evaluate competing technologies, identify practical solutions, and make informed engineering decisions regarding energy infrastructure, reliability, sustainability, and long-term economic performance.
