Nice utilitarian solution, but experience tells me half the people receiving a piece aren’t going to appreciate having the bottom stump of the cake.
I saw this the other day on line in a quiz, I knew the answer. However as an Engineer I learned a long time ago how what seems to be the simplest thing is not always straightforward. In college someone gave me a rectangular piece of something and told me to cut it in half. I complied, however after cutting it he yelled at me since he wanted it cut the other way. I sometimes look at specs the same way, it may seem simple and straightforward to you but there may be another way to interpret it.
