This course offers information to help you navigate business decisions in an ethical manner.
Engineers encounter situations that require judgment and decision-making with many situations being complicated, high pressure, or ambiguous. These situations may involve sensitive information, employees, agreements, and/or liability. Certain ethical issues are more easily resolved than others. This course focuses on offering background information about ethics and practical ideas for approaching business decisions in an ethical manner. Ethics is logical, it’s about doing what is right, even at personal expense or sacrifice. Your success as a professional necessitates that you understand ethical decision-making and avoid conflicts of interest.

This course teaches the following specific knowledge and skills:
- Recognize why it is important to study and practice engineering ethics
- Explain the rationale for the Fundamental Canons for Professional Engineers
- Understand ethics beyond the law and its relationship to values and moral decision-making
