The centrifugal pump is the most common and widely used pump today. Its simple construction, low maintenance, and low cost have made it an ideal pump for widespread commercial application.

The course is designed to take you from zero to hero concerning centrifugal pump knowledge. Even if you already have some background knowledge, this course will serve as an efficient refresher. Whatever your level of understanding, or engineering background (HVAC, fire safety, oil and gas, mechanical engineering, refrigeration, chemical engineering, power engineering etc.), you have likely never taken an engineering course like this one.

Interactive 3D models are used extensively to show you each individual pump component and how these components work together to complete useful work.

The course is packed with images, 2D animations, 3D animations, and high-quality narrated and written content.

Specific Knowledge or Skill Obtained

This course teaches the following specific knowledge and skills:

  • Impeller types and their advantages and disadvantages
  • What is the purpose of a diffuser ring
  • What is the best application for a multistage centrifugal pump
  • The purpose and components of a mechanical seal
  • What is the purpose of a lantern ring
  • Why should the stuffing box always have a leak in it
  • What are the symptoms of pump cavitation and how do you fix it
  • Why do you need to prime a centrifugal pump
  • What type of bearing is used to handle high axial loads

Video on Demand

This course is a recorded version of a live lecture and will be streamed directly to your computer's media player. Our format is generally compatible with media players included with all computers and mobile devices. After watching the video presentation, you will return to your account to take the online quiz.
