Compressed air is used in many different industries for driving pneumatic tools, hoists, conveyors, actuators, sprayers, air brakes, vacuum filters, air eductors, snow makers and a wide variety of other applications. A compressed air system consists of a supply side, which includes compressors and air treatment, and a demand side, which includes distribution and storage systems and end-use equipment. A properly designed and maintained compressed air system addresses both the supply and demand sides of the system and how the two interact.

This course provides an overview of compressed air system basics, including the major components. This course is relevant to engineers responsible for designing, purchasing, upgrading or maintaining compressed air systems, as well as engineers interested in learning more about compressed air systems. This is an introductory course for engineers with little or no knowledge of compressed air systems and experienced engineers seeking a refresher course on the basics.

Specific Knowledge or Skill Obtained

This course teaches the following specific knowledge and skills:

  • Supply-side components of a compressed air system
  • Demand-side components of a compressed air system.
  • Compressed air end users

Certificate of Completion

You will be able to immediately print a certificate of completion after passing a multiple-choice quiz consisting of 10 questions. PDH credits are not awarded until the course is completed and quiz is passed.
